He is a Roman Catholic and a Jungian psychotherapist. Moore was born in Detroit, Michigan to an Irish Catholic family. He earned an M.A. in theology from the University of Windsor and a Ph.D. in religion from Syracuse University. From 1974 to 1990 he practiced as a psychotherapist, first in Dallas, TX and later in New England.
